KUCHING: Sarawak today records four new Patient Under Investigation(PUI) cases for Covid-19.
The statement from the State Disaster Management Committee said two of the cases were reported in Miri Hospital and one each in Sibu and the Sarawak General Hospital.
It said with the the new cases, Sarawak has a cumulative of 80 PUI cases from 10 January until today (the majority at 59 cases are malaysians ,18 chinese nationals and one Thai, one Indonesian and one canadian).
“However, 64 had tested negative and 16 are still awaiting results from laboratory testing.
The 16 pending cases involved 13 Malaysians (seven at Sarawak General Hospital, five in Miri Hospital and one at Sibu Hospital) and three Chinese nationals (two at Sarawak General Hospital and one at Miri Hospital),” it said.
According to the statement, as at 12pm yesterday, the Health Department had screened 5,095 arrivals at various airports, land and sea entry points.
The Health Department also advised those who had fallen sick (fever, coughing and breathing difficulty) within 14 days after returning from China to seek immediate medical treatment.
“They must inform the doctors treating them of their travel history.
All doctors are to report any suspected cases to the nearest respective divisional/district Health Department using the notification form or they can send email to the state Health Department Crisis Preparedness And Response Centre at cprc_sarawak.gov.my or dial 082 443248,” it said.
