KOTA KINABALU: Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Datuk Junz Wong (pic) said a police report will be lodged against a WhatsApp message claiming that his brother can help to facilitate funding from Agro Bank.

Junz in refuting the message that has gone viral, stressed that he has never allowed any ‘middlemen’ to lobby for projects or programs through his family members.

Those who want to participate in agriculture programs or implementation of development programs can deal with the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry or agencies under it, he said.

He also made it clear that no officers in the ministry, departments or agencies are allowed to be the middlemen to facilitate any projects or programs.

Junz was responding to the viral voice message via WhatsApp of an individual who claimed to be a friend of his younger brother Jack. The individual claimed that through the friendship, they can get Junz’s assistance to get funding from Agro Bank.

The individual also said that those who referred companies that needed assistance will receive a referral fee.

“This is not true and is a scam. My officers will be lodging a police report on this,” said Junz and urged the public to be wary and not fall for scams like this.

“If you need assistance or our help, please contact the ministry, agencies or departments directly,” he added.
