Public Works Department urged to give cracked road at Canada Hill immediate attention

MIRI: Public Works Department (PWD) are urged to fix the cracked road at Canada Hill, which is now undergoing slope protection construction works which commenced September last year.

Minister of Transport Datuk Lee Kim Shin who inspected the site upon arriving to Miri earlier this afternoon had expressed his concerned over the cracked road that could pose danger to the road users.

“I have received a lot of messages from the public concerning this matter,” said Lee.

Upon checking the road, Lee urged the PWD to work closely with contractor of the construction work, to immediately repair the cracks as well as expressed concern over the delay of the construction works of the slope repair works, as more delays could lead to other problems.

“i have requested the PWD to take necessary action to ensure that the contractor will speed up the works, as well as ensuring the safety of road users by putting up adequate signages to alert road users.”

The cracked road went viral on social media via Facebook on Tuesday (Feb 8) when a netizen had posted a photo of it, attempting to alert the public to be careful while driving down from Canada Hill towards Jalan Lopeng.
