MIRI: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Miri’s Chinese New Year dinner tomorrow (Feb 16) would be a launch pad to prepare the party for the state election, said PKR Miri chairman Dr Michael Teo.

He said the dinner would involve party leaders from the peninsula.

“This will be a good start for this year. We are keeping election in view and are getting ready for it. We heard the news that election is coming and we must be prepared. So we are using this CNY gathering as the launch pad to get ready for the election,” he told reporters here yesterday.

1,500 PKR and Pakatan Harapan (PH) members as well as supporters are expected to attend the gathering.

It would take place at the new Keadilan Community Centre at Jalan Brighton. Commencing at 5.30pm, the event is open to the public.

“We have to do our part to get ready for election which can be anytime. We must start early and fast because we don’t want to be caught ‘unguarded’ (sic). That’s why we have this CNY gathering in a big way. We will start our preparation in Miri first, then finally in whole of Sarawak.

“If we are caught unaware when election comes, then we are not being fair to our people and our supporters,” he said.

Dr Teo added that PKR Miri would have a closed-door meeting with several national leaders today (Feb 15) with a focus on the election and also to discuss strategy planning.
