KOTA KINABALU: The Borneo Post, See Hua Daily News and Utusan Borneo welcome messages and short video clips from the public to cheer for China’s ongoing efforts in battling the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).

KTS Trading Sdn Bhd Sabah area operations manager Wong Kee Mee said the initiative would provide a platform for the public to show their support and solidarity with China during this challenging time.

“This is an opportunity for Sabahans to express their support to China through words, photographs or videos.”

To participate, write a message along with your photograph, or record a short video clip, and send to [email protected]; or share via the WeChat group (scan the QR code to join). Submissions start today.

The messages, which can be in Mandarin, English or Malay, must not exceed 100 words, whereas the video clip should run less than 60 seconds.

The messages received will be published on The Borneo Post, See Hua Daily News and Utusan Borneo.

Meanwhile, the video clips will be edited into a compilation, and thereafter, be uploaded to the newspapers’ respective Facebook pages.

The initiative was launched by the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu, Liang Caide.

Liang said he was touched by the outpouring of support from Sabah since the outbreak of Covid-19 began in China.

“I wish to express my gratitude to Sabah as well as to See Hua for your support.”

He also suggested publishing excerpts from the open letters written by Sabah Tshung Tsin Secondary School students to cheer for China in fighting against the coronavirus outbreak, many of which he found to be very touching.

Liang said some 300 tour guides in Sabah, as well as the Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Mohd Shafie Apdal and himself, had recorded videos to cheer for China and Wuhan city.

“We will fully support the initiative launched by the See Hua Group,” he said.

Also present were See Hua Marketing (Sabah) Sdn Bhd operations manager Toh Lu Hung, See Hua Daily News chief reporter Yong Ted Phen and See Hua Daily News sub-editor Teo Jinn Jiun.
