KAPIT: The Kapit District Council (KDC) in collaboration with various government agencies in Song District will hold the second Song Dabai Festival on March 6-8.

KDC deputy walikota Watson Awan said the district is well-known for the best quality dabai in the state.

“Hopefully this dabai festival could help to bring Song town to life and gather the community together to take part in the celebration,” he said following a committee meeting recently.

KDC assistant secretary Kelimbik Sibat said the opening on March 6 will be held at the main stage of KDC Song branch.

“Based on our findings from the local community, dabai fruit could still be available during that period. It is supposed to be an annual event and we hope to organise the event annually as long as we have the funding,” he said.

The programme includes a dabai products exhibition, cultural presentation, Kelab Gagung Sarawak performance, and concert.

There will also be a best dabai competition, cooking competition involving dabai recipes, guess the number of dabai competition, Katibas Bridge Fun Run, children’s colouring contest, Song Strong Man Contest, and community sports.

Kapit member of parliament Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi and Katibas assemblyman Datuk Ambrose Blikau Enturan are expected to officiate at the festival.

The first Song Dabai Festival was held in December 2018.
