KUCHING: The Petronas cooking gas cylinders which are distributed in Sarawak will have its colour scheme changed from emerald green to red, white and black, says Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He said these three new colours are based on Petroleum Sarawak Berhad’s (Petros) corporate colours for its logo.

“Apart from that, the logo and brand of Petronas liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders will also be replaced with Petros,” he said when when officiating ‘Sarawak Kita Empun’ at Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters here today.

He said the change in image of the cooking gas cylinders is following the recent transfer of distribution of domestic gas from Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) to Petros.

Petros is now the single entity to supply, sell and deliver domestic gas to Sarawak homes, businesses and industries.

“After this, the cooking gas cylinders will no longer be in emerald green but red, white and black because that is the colour of Petros and the logo will also be using that of Petros,” said Abang Johari.

However, he noted that the price of cooking gas will continue to be based on current market price.

“Let’s just change the colours first and if we win big in the next State Election, then we can adjust the price,” he said.

Also present were Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, who is also PBB Women’s Wing chief, Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who is also PBB vice president, PBB Youth chief Gerald Rentap Jabu and PBB Supreme Council members.
