BAU: Work to construct the new Bau District Office Complex is progressing well, said Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep.

He said no problems have been encountered and the first floor structure is coming up soon.

“Hopefully it is on time and ready for officiating by year end or early next year by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg,” he told reporters after the launch of Spektra Permata (RSP) housing units by Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing Dr Annuar Rapa’ee yesterday.

Henry noted that the new RM5 million complex is one of the people’s projects implemented in Tasik Biru.

He said other people’s projects, including Tondong Bridge and Buso Bridge, are also progressing well, while the proposed Bau Sports Arena is awaiting design approval by the State Design Committee following State Planning Authority approval.

“The Tasik Biru Bridge is going to start any time, while the proposed new Bau Municipal Council office will be implemented under the 12th Malaysia Plan.

“The Chief Minister, in principle, had approved the proposed project, which is part of the projects proposed in the Blue Print for Bau District 2016 to 2030.”

On the RSP project in Sibuluh, Henry said it is in fulfilment of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government’s promise to provide housing facilities to the people, especially the B40 group, in Bau.

He said the increase of the income cap from RM3,000 to RM6,000 to be the eligible for the project would enable more Bau folk to own affordable Spektra Permata houses.

“In Bau, we have taken care of the Malays with the kampung extension programme on state land, not resettlement, and the natives with the RSP programme.

“So the Malays will still be in Bau while the housing project in Sibuluh is mainly for the natives because the houses are built on native land,” he added.
