MIRI: Sarawak PAS information chief Zharudin Nurudin today claimed that some 1,300 former Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) supporters in Beting Maro have joined the party.

Zharudin disclosed that many of those who joined the party were from from Kampung Beladin, Kampung Beladin Tengah, Kampung Beladin Ulu and Kampung Beladin Hilir.

“They decided to join PAS after seeing PH as being irrelevant and serve just as a ‘puppet’ for DAP to divide the Malay community,” he said.

According to him, those who joined PAS claimed that they were misled by PH’s manifesto and promises during the last general election, which many of them have yet to be fulfilled.

They were fed up with the federal government who had failed to bring development that was promised during the last election, he alleged.

Meanwhile, Zharudin claimed that the action by the former PH and BN supporters to join PAS proved that the party is gaining influence and well received by Sarawakians.

Thus, he said Sarawak PAS will continue to reach out to the people by providing mature and political education, besides helping to solve the problems of the people which have been done for many years.

“These efforts will continue until the people of Sarawak trust in PAS to speak up and represent them in the State Legislative Assembly,” he added
