Christina should ‘go on leave’ – Jeffrey

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan (right) feels that the Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Christina Liew (left), should take leave from her ministerial work immediately.

The president of Parti Solidariti Tanahairku (STARSABAH) is of the view that as a lawyer, she should respect the court’s decision with regard to her land grab case which had her and two others declared liable for RM557 million.

Since her appeal to submit fresh evidence has been rejected by the federal court with a cost of RM30,000, and that the amount of the judgement against her exceeds more than half a billion ringgit, she should respect the court’s decision and honourably take leave from her work until the case is resolved.

“It is a standard procedure in law which requires that when a member of the legislative assembly is fined more than RM2,000 for an offence he or she should resign,” the Keningau member of parliament and Tambunan assemblyman said.

“The massive amount of liability weighing on her shoulders automatically disqualifies her as an assemblywoman.”

He said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal should advise her to vacate her cabinet position immediately.
