TENOM: Tenom Career Carnival organized by Labour Department (JTK) and Department of Human Resource Development (JPSM) at the Dewan Datuk Seri Panglima Antanom yesterday has successfully placed 290 job seekers.

Eighteen employers and training providers participated in this year’s carnival offering 508 vacancies.

The carnival was officiated by Jack Jatil Junggok, Political Secretary to the Sabah Infrastructure Development Minister on behalf of Infrastructure Development Minister, Datuk Peter Anthony.

The opening text was read by Jack and emphasized on encouraging job seekers especially younger generations to venture into entrepreneurship rather than the norms (salaried employees).

Jack also said that parents should send their children for skills training or TVET because they would create job opportunities for job seekers in the future.

He added that those who are interested and qualified in the oil and gas sector can register for the Employment and Training Online Application System (POMIGAS) under the Chief Minister’s Department.

The carnival was attended by over 500 visitors around the Tenom district.

Also present were Haji Wan Zulklfi Wan Setapa, director of the State Labour Department (JTK) who delivered his welcoming speech and Mrs Celestina Aron, representing the Director of JPSM.
