Pustaka Miri 5th Hobbies, Collections and Arts Exhibition ends today

MIRI: The fifth edition of Hobbies, Collections and Arts Exhibition being held at Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri (Pustaka Miri) starting yesterday (Feb 22) received overwhelming response from the public and exhibitors.

Pustaka Miri regional manager, Salina Zawawi said yesterday some 2,677 people visited the two-day exhibition which will end today at 5pm.

“Thank you to all collaborators and hobbies collectors who came from Kuching, Lawas, Bintulu and Sibu to exhibit their personal collections and share tips.

“This provides a platform for youths and those who seldom come to the library to realise the relevance of the library to their hobbies,” said Salina when met after the opening of the event by Assistant Minister of Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development, Rosey Yunus.

“The exhibition aims to promote creativity and thinking skills to the younger generation by showing them how to develop and maintain a special hobby whether it is collecting and trading items of value, playing games or learning a new skill,” she added.

The exhibition at the lobby and first floor of the library is open to the public. Admission is free.

Among the exhibits are collectible figurines such as the Gundam Mini; Transformer Robots; Warhammer; Star Wars; Hot Wheels; Marvel and Avengers collection; drone and miniature aircraft collectors.

Cosplay, Read Aloud Challenge and Singing Competitions enliven the exhibition where  interactive workshops such as crafts workshop, Pinky Corner Workshop, Human Library Session, Amigurumi Workshop, paintings workshop  suitable for all ages are held.
