KOTA KINABALU: State police commissioner Datuk Zaini Jass has assured Sabahans that the state is free from any public safety concerns despite the ongoing political turmoil at the federal level.

“Thankfully, in Sabah, everything has been going on smoothly as usual. There is nothing that the people should worry about.

“Just continue with what you usually do. I can assure you that that the safety is Sabah is under control. Everything is all right,” he stressed.

The newly-appointed police commissioner spoke to reporters when met during his courtesy call to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal at the Sabah State Administrative Centre (PPNS) here today.

The courtesy call had also effectively quashed rumours of Shafie meeting with the leaders of four political parties earlier today, as reported by several online portals.

It was earlier reported that Shafie was scheduled to meet with the presidents of Umno, PAS, Bersatu and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) today.

This was proven to not be the case as Shafie was in his office since morning, even receiving visits from Deputy Chief Minister cum Pakatan Harapan Sabah chairperson Datuk Christina Liew and State Law and Native Affairs Minister Datuk Aidi Mokthar.
