KUCHING: The police are currently investigating the identity of a Facebook user for allegedly ridiculing Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg in a meme that was posted on Facebook on Feb 24.

This was confirmed by Kuching district police acting chief Supt Merbin Lisa when contacted today.

Yesterday, a police report was lodged by SUPP youth chief Michael Tiang over the meme which he claimed was created to tarnish the reputation of Abang Johari in light of the nation’s political imbroglio.

Tiang also claimed the Facebook user had abused the social media platform to slander the Sarawak Government.

The police report by Tiang was also forwarded to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for further action.

Meanwhile, as of 2pm today, the posting of the meme was still online and had garnered more than 100 comments and 31 shares.

A majority of those who commented condemned the user for the meme.
