KUCHING: Muara Tuang assemblyman Dato Idris Buang said today that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is “wasting time” if it chooses to work with a prime minister that the Democratic Action Party (DAP) is backing.

He said that GPS’ principle was simple, that they would not support a candidate for prime minister that aligns himself with DAP.

“So long as whoever has the support of DAP, we (GPS) will not support him. That is our principle.

“Moreover, we know both Interim Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Lim Guan Eng have been uncooperative and seemingly repugnant at times towards our (GPS’) cause and demands regarding our Sarawak’s rights and interests under MA63 (Malaysia Agreement 1963), FC (Federal Constitution), SST (State Sales Tax), OMO (Oil Mining Ordinance), Sarawak Land Code, and more.

“So, why waste our time with them? It’s better for us to secure them (state’s rights) with (Tan Sri) Muhyiddin (Yassin) and stabilise not only the nation of Malaysia but our beloved state of Sarawak too,” he said in a statement.

Idris also quipped that Feb 29, 2020 was “a very special day for Malaysia” for “it is a day where you will witness numerous frogs leaping from one party to another”.

“And more surprisingly, some of these frogs can even reverse leap. It really is one of a kind. So this is a special day in the history of Malaysia.”
