KUCHING: Serian MP Dato Sri Richard Riot Jaem from Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) has joined Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), according to PKR’s latest Facebook post.

SUPP is one of the component parties of Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) coalition government.

Attempts to seek confirmation from SUPP’s president Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian and Riot were unsuccessful at the time of writing.

Prior to this latest development, Riot was SUPP’s deputy president. He was also the first non-Chinese holding the post.

He is a six-time MP after first being elected in 1995 for the Serian seat. Before the 2018 general election, he was Minister of Human Resources.

PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil confirmed Riot’s admission in a tweet.
