KUCHING: Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Chidhood Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah hopes that the eighth Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will adopt inclusivity in his new federal cabinet line-up.

She said even though Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) was not part of the Perikatan Nasional (PN), the state ruling coalition looks forward to Muhyiddin using his “wisdom and skills” to handpick the right persons to form the next federal cabinet.

“Whatever it is, what matters is his wisdom to appoint (individuals to be federal cabinet members). It has to be inclusive although politicians are divided.

“It needs a lot of wisdom and skill (to form an inclusive cabinet). I wish him good luck,” she said when met by journalists at a function here today.

Asked how would GPS expect the new prime minister to include its leaders in the new cabinet line-up since GPS is not part of PN, Fatimah said: “That is his (Muhyiddin’s) prerogative. It has been done before. Even if (individuals) are not politicians.”

Now that Muhyiddin is sworn as, she hoped that Malaysia will start moving forward.

“We cannot allow Malaysia to go on like this. We hope this (Muhyiddin’s appointment) is a new beginning for us. We hope that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is able to move the country forward,” added Fatimah.
