KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) stands firm on its decision to support Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the Prime Minister on Malaysia.

Its Secretary General Datuk Loretto Padua said Warisan’s Supreme Council had a  meeting and is consistent with the stand made previously.

“We support Tun Dr Mahathir as Prime Minister,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Meanwhile United Progressive Kinabalu Organization (UPKO) Supreme Council has also expressed their support for Tun Dr Mahathir to be Malaysia’s Prime Minster.

“We want him to lead the federal government in order to defend the mandate given to Pakatan Harapan (PH) by the rakyat during the 14th general election,” UPKO President Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau said.

Madius disclosed that UPKO Supreme Council met yesterday morning to discuss the party’s stand in the federal government leadership tussle as it does not want the turmoil to prolong.

UPKO is consistent with its decision made on May 10, 2018, to leave Barisan Nasional (BN) and work with Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) to form a new government in Sabah, he stressed.
