MIRI: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) would be very delighted if the new Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin gave the party significant posts in his federal cabinet line-up.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said GPS will let the prime minister make his decision as he knows what was best for the nation and the country.

“As what had been mentioned by our chief minister, what we want is a stable Malaysia, that is why we came in to support (Muhyiddin).

“Our main reason for supporting him is because we want to stop all these uncertainties,” he told the media in an interview after officiating at the Certificate Presentation Ceremony for Regional Specific Tourist Guide Training in Miri at Merits Hotel Miri today.

Abdul Karim, who is also Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice president, pointed out that such uncertainties will affect everything, including the stock market.

“The next step would be for the prime minister to appoint his cabinet. Let him handle this part.

He added that Muhyiddin had vast experience in government administration and had held many significant posts such as Menteri Besar, federal minister for five ministries and deputy prime minister in the past.

“He is a wise man, he knows how to handle the Malay, Chinese, Indian and natives as well as requests from Sarawak and Sabah.

“We don’t want to demand (ministerial posts). Of course, if he gives us posts like deputy prime minister, finance minister or home affairs minister, we would be really happy.”
