Shafie: Sabah govt to continue supporting Dr Mahathir

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government have reiterated their support for Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad despite the change of federal government that is now led by the new Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Shafie Apdal said Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan), Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Democratic Action Party (DAP) and United Progressive Kadazandusun Murut Organisation’s (Upko) stand was to continue to support Dr Mahathir.

Nevertheless, he said the Sabah government would continue to work with the federal government to safeguard the interests of Sabahans in terms of healthcare, education and security.

“I have instructed several federal officers to maintain their effort in development and assistance for the people, as we practise government-to-government (G2G) cooperation.

“But we are very clear in our stand with regards to political cooperation.

“We will always support Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad,” he said that when meeting the members of parliament and assemblymen from Sabah here today to clarify the political uncertainty.
