Kadri’s boat found near Kuala Bakam beach.
MIRI: A fisherman is missing and feared drowned while out on a fishing trip in Kuala Bakam waters Wednesday night.
The man was identified as Kadri Tra, 71.
Fire and Rescue Department, in a statement, said a search and rescue (SAR) operation was immediately launched, with personnel from Miri fire station, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, the police and fishermen in the vicinity.
The statement added the Maritime Rescue Command Centre had earlier received a report on the missing man at 5.09am yesterday.
It said Kadri’s boat had been found yesterday morning about one nautical mile from Kuala Bakam beach.
It is learnt that it was raining heavily at the area when the incident occurred.
The victim was last seen wearing a white shirt and dark blue pants.
The SAR operation was ongoing at press time.
