MIRI: Parti Bersatu Sarawak (PSB) will be launching its Marudi branch office in Beluru tomorrow, paving the way for a showdown in Marudi seat between incumbent Datu Dr Penguang Manggil and his predecessor Datuk Sylvester Entri Muran in the next state election.

Party president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh will officiate at the opening ceremony at 10 am.

Entri, who is a former Assistant Minister of Public Utilities ( Water Supply), said a crowd of 2,000 is expected to turn up for the opening ceremony and the Beluru office would serve as the launch pad of the party’s preparation for the state election.

“All are invited to this key event and cadres in Miri, Lambir, Telang Usan, Bintulu, Kemena and other places have indicated that they are coming,” he said.

He said the party is undaunted by the challenges faced, including the removal of party banners put up at junctions of Miri-Marudi Road and at Lapok by unknown persons .

“We are ‘thankful’ to those who pulled out the banners at the locations.

But the spirit of PSB Marudi to move foward is not dampened but further strengthened and be more united in our cause for Marudi people,” he said.

Entri who was the BN Marudi incumbent was dropped by BN under the leadership of the late Datuk Patinggi Adenan Satem who favoured Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP now renamed Progressive Democratic Party) candidate Penguang in the last state election in 2016.

Entri has been on the move in the ground since last year in tandem with PSB hitting the high gear after Wong left the state cabinet to lead the party .

Meanwhile, Penguang has been reported to be ready for a multi-cornered fight in Marudi in the next election and has been actively visiting his constituency since winning the seat.
