KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 12 new Person-Under-Investigation (PUI) cases for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) yesterday, says the State Disaster Management Committee.

The committee said of the 12 cases, nine are at the Sarawak General Hospital, one at Sibu Hospital and two at Bintulu Hospital.

Sarawak has recorded a total of 207 PUI cases of which 187 have been tested negative for the sickness in the period from January 10 until 10.30am yesterday.

Twenty cases are awaiting results from laboratory testing. They include 16 cases at Sarawak General Hospital, three in Bintulu Hospital and one in Sibu Hospital.

The state Health Department has until 11am Friday screened 17,631 arrivals to the state at all its airports, sea and land entry points to bring the total cases to 385,753 since Feb 1 this year.

The department is again advising those who plan to travel to affected countries like China (including Hong Kong and Macau), Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Italy and Iran to postpone such trip.

Those who have travelled to any of these affected countries within the last 14 days and
have developed fever, coughing and breathing difficulty must seek immediate medical attention.

They must inform the doctors attending to them of their travel history.

Doctors who come across any suspected Covid-19 case must notify the state Health Department at 082-443247 or the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre at its email [email protected].
