KUCHING: The new school block for SJK Chung Hua Bako, which has been relocated to Kota Samarahan, will be completed next month.

Association of the Boards of Management of Aided Chinese Primary Schools in Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Division president Jonathan Chai said the RM6 million relocation project is in its final stage.

“The new school block is expected to be completed this coming April and the school can be open by 2021. This RM6 million school project has the blessing of the Sarawak government, which has chipped in RM3 million to make it a success,” he said during the association’s annual general meeting yesterday.

Chai thanked Lee Onn Construction Company for building SJK Chung Hua Bako at a subsidised cost and Berlian Stabil Sdn Bhd for donating the 3.48-acre site for the relocation as well as the procurement of equipment for the school’s classrooms.

He said the association is also in the process of relocating SJK Kai Nang, Sibu to Kota Samarahan as well.

At present, he said the design plan is awaiting approval from the relevant authorities.

“We expect the relevant authorities to approve the design plan in the shortest possible time. This project is expected to kick-start second half of the year.”

Chai added the association hoped to see the school open by 2022.

He thanked Golden Ants Realty Sdn Bhd for donating the 10-acre site for the relocation project and the Sarawak government for allocating RM500,000 to cover the earth filling for the project.

“Moreover, the federal government allocated RM2 million for the construction of SJK(C) Kai Nang, Sibu last year. And we thank the federal government.

“We hope both the Sarawak government and federal government as well as the public will continue to lend a helping hand to make this relocation project a success,” said Chai.
