SIBU: Women are more reliable than men in keeping their words and loyalty to an organisation, said Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing.

Besides that, Masing who is Parti Rakyat Sarawak president, said women are more trustworthy and have a very keen sense of observing change within their surroundings, including change in people’s behaviours.

“Their sixth sense is almost uncanny and frightening, at times,” he said when addressing at at the PRS’ Women International Day celebration cum fundraising dinner held in a leading hotel here last night.

According to him, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) may need their skills very soon that is during the coming state election.

“We may need our women’s dedicated power of observation and their sense of loyalty to the government of the day. During this occasion together men and women of GPS will pit their skills and dedication against the force of DAP and PKR imported from Malaya.

“We must never give an inch of our land to them, nor our assets to outsiders. We must protect our fairland Sarawak with the battle cry: ‘As long as I breathe, l will fight’,” Masing who is also Infrastructure and Ports Development, said.

He said women play important role in shaping and molding future leaders.

He is certain that among women – who had over the generations, the gentle species of human kind – will continue to rock the cradle of future leaders.

“The way you rock the cradle for months, gentle or not so gentle, may determine the character of the person under your care.

“I shall, therefore, gladly contribute RM50,000 to your fund raising dinner, and gentlemen, who are here tonight, please open your hearts as well as your wallets, and contribute to a very important group of people, who will produce and nurture our future administrators,” he enthused.

Masing said it will be the tender loving care of these women whom the nation will be depending on.

In the past few weeks, Masing said that the country experienced the political roller coaster.

“It wasn’t one of the best roller coaster rides. I don’t think we would like to experience such a ride too soon. Nor was the recent political turmoil good for our country.

“I was told that because of such political turmoil and uncertainties caused by our leaders jostling for power, our Bursa Malaysia lost RM43 billion in one single day.”

He took the opportunity to urge women to never underestimate their role, nor should they allow anybody to downplay their part in building the nation.

As the PRS president, Masing said it has been his prime objective to share the position, responsibility as well the bounty of the government with the better half.

However, he said it is easier said than done.

“My male counterpart have not move out from the traditional circle of male dominance. Please don’t give up your hope on me and pursuing women’s rights – your rights – within PRS.

“To my male colleagues, please let your guard down a bit, and allow our ladies to come into your domain and make your house into home,” Masing who is also Infrastructure and Ports Development, further stated.
