Alexander Nanta to continue Tun Jugah’s legacy in federal cabinet

KUCHING: The MP for Kapit, Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi who has been appointed as Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister is continuing the legacy of his grandfather, Tun Jugah Barieng in the cabinet of the federal government.

Tun Jugah was an important figure in the establishment of Malaysia in the early 60’s and he was the first Sarawak leader to be appointed as a minister in the federal government holding the post of Minister in charge of Sarawak Affairs.

Nanta, 62, when contacted by Bernama said his appointment as a full minister is a heavy responsibility as his ministry is very close to the daily needs of the people.

“I will try my best to carry out the trust honestly and face the people to resolve any arising issues.

“It is hoped all parties in the ministry and the public will assist me carry out the responsibilities to ensure the administration of the ministry proceeds smoothly,” he said. – Bernama
