More than 500 S’wakians could have attended Seri Petaling Mosque event, says state disaster committee

KUCHING: More than 500 Sarawakians are believed to have attended the religious event at the Seri Petaling Mosque in Selangor from Feb 27 to March 1 where an attendee was confirmed to be Brunei’s first Covid-19 case, the state disaster relief committee (JPBN) said.

“If you or anyone you know have attended this event, please reach out to the nearest Government Hospital or District Health Office,” the committee appealed on its Facebook page, Sarawak Disaster Information.

Brunei had confirmed its first Covid-19 case on Monday in a 53-year-old man who had attended the religious event in the mosque in Selangor. More than 10,000 foreigners were also believed to have attended the event.

The sultanate yesterday confirmed that their cases had risen to 11 and all were connected with the first case.
