Covid-19: S’wak disaster committee orders events with more than 250 people to be postponed

KUCHING: All government and public gatherings in Sarawak involving more than 250 participants are to be postponed in light of the three confirmed Covid-19 cases in the state today, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee said.

It also advised Sarawakians to postpone or defer all non-essential travel to Brunei Darussalam, Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia.

“Visitors from Brunei Darussalam, Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia are also advised to postpone or defer their travel to Sarawak,” the committee said in a statement.

It added that the state Health Department has advised the public to practise the highest personal hygienes standard by frequently washing their hands and using hand sanitizer, practise good cough and sneezing etiquette by covering their mouth with hands or tissues and the use of face mask.

“They should also maintain social distancing especially those returning from the affected countries in the last 14 days,” it said.

Individuals who have developed symptoms of Covid-19 such as fever, cough, flue or breathing difficulty are advised to contact Crisis Prepareness and Response Centre (CPCR) or Divisional Health Department (PBK) as follows:
