KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Health Department director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi has urged the public to maintain their composure and to keep calm, because it is only by doing so that they can think straight.

She reminded that people who go on a panic spree and stock up on food are the reason food run out.
“It is not because there is not enough food,” she said.

“We are just creating our own problems,” she told reporters when asked on the panic buying in Tawau due to the fear of the Covid-19.

Health and People’s Wellbeing Minister Datuk Frankie Poon concurred with Dr Christina and told the media that there is no shortage of food in the country.

“Malaysia has plenty of food. Do not panic and go buy tissue paper and all that. I don’t think that’s necessary,” he said.

Poon also reminded that food is aplenty because there were no tourists from China shopping in Sabah anymore.

“There are no one buying.”

He added that if people were worried, what they should do instead is to practise good personal hygiene and to avoid big crowd.
