MARUDI: Changing the Sarawak government would result in the disruption of development plans for the future of the state, said Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau.

According to him, without stability in the government, Sarawak will not achieve its development goals as these require consistency over the long term.

“The Sarawak government under the leadership of  Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has various attainable plans put in place to ensure the current and future generations of the state will be able to gain knowledge in order to compete here in Malaysia as well as abroad.

“We have no choice but to raise the bar of Sarawakians’ educational attainment to the level of international standards.

“Therefore, the youth of today should count your blessings that the state has various opportunities presented before you not only in urban areas but these opportunities are brought right to your door like here in Baram,” he said when launching the Project of Dreams Realised (Pro-Dr Roadshow) here yesterday.

Over 200 Baram students and youths attended the roadshow, which featured 45 tertiary institutions.

“Youths of today must spend their schooling time to attain the best possible education they could achieve and there is almost no reason that Sarawakians today cannot possess at least a skills certificate as various colleges
in the state offer courses,” he said.

Dennis added the roadshow by Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (Tegas) complements Sarawak’s efforts to focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
