Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish to broadcast masses live on Facebook page as precaution against Covid-19

KOTA KINABALU: Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish here has made arrangements to broadcast its weekend masses live on Facebook starting today till March 29.

The live broadcast will be streamed on Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish Kota Kinabalu’s Facebook page, available here.

On Saturdays, the service in English will start from 6.30pm while on Sundays, the Mandarin service will commence at 8am followed by the Bahasa Malaysia service at 9.30am.

St Peter Claver Parish in Ranau will also be streaming its services in Kadaza Dusun through its YouTube channel, Cahaya Kinabalu.

On Friday, Archbishop John Wong of the Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu announced a temporary suspension of all masses and other gatherings in the archdiocese effective Saturday, Mar 14 to Wednesday, April 1, 2020 due to the spread of the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) that has now been declared by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as a pandemic.

Archbishop Wong said in a statement said that this measure has been taken in accordance to advice his church has received from state officials at the Ministry of Health.

He disclosed that various parishes would make arrangements for to broadcast their masses live in various languages.
