KUCHING: Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen today directs all party members and elected representatives who have been in close contact with Sarikei MP Wong Ling Biu to observe a 14-day self-quarantine as a precautionary measure against the spread of the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19)

Chong said this is in compliance with the standard operating procedure (SOP) set by the Ministry of Health to contain the spread of Covid-19.

“The DAP Sarawak directs all members and elected representatives having close contacts with YB Wong Ling Biu in the last 14 days to observe self-quarantine, in compliance with the SOP set by the Ministry of Health to contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

“Most of us had last close contact with YB Wong on March 1, 2020, the day when Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was sworn in as the Prime Minister,” he said in a press statement today.

Meanwhile, Chong said today (March 15) he and Dr Yii have passed the 14-day quarantine period and so far have not shown any symptoms of the virus infection.

“Though both Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yee and I had no fever, cough or any symptom of the virus infection, due to the nature of our work, we have had Covid-19 tests done by the Sarawak General Hospital this morning (March 15).

“The results should be out by tomorrow (March 16),” said Chong.

He also wished Wong a speedy recovery from his ordeal after being admitted to the Sibu hospital yesterday (March 14) for a suspected Covid-19 infection.
