Inaugural Josephian Day gathers students together

KUCHING:  The inaugural joint Josephian Day was held within the compound of SMK St Joseph, SK St Joseph and St Joseph’s Private School on Friday.

Fun activities carried out in the large school area were more popular with Upper Primary students from SK St Joseph and St Joseph’s Private Primary School while Lower Primary students took part in an aerobics session at SK St Joseph compound.

The Secondary students were mostly engrossed with performances at the open air Amphitheatre while others were seen busy buying from food trucks at different open-air locations in the school.

Some old boys returned to their alma mater to take part in Back to School Games of badminton, basketball, futsal and ping pong against current Josephians.

The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Kuching Simon Poh, who is an ex-Josephian, led the opening prayer while Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah was happy to see the familiar buildings and spaces of his former school.

Another ex-Josephian, Dr Kelvin Yii who is Bandar Kuching MP was delighted to meet his old principal Gerald Lee during the event.

The school anthem ‘Sons/Children of St Joseph’ was sung with proud gusto during the gathering of Josephians.
