SIBU: Sarawak today registered 11 new positive Covid-19 cases, bringing the total to 20 since Friday when the first three were recorded.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said of the 11 cases today, eight were in Miri and one each in Kuching, Bintulu and Sarikei.
“While the eight cases in Miri are linked to the cluster attending the recent religious gathering in Sri Petaling Mosque in Kuala Lumpur, we are still trying to find the source for those in Kuching and Sarikei.
“The one in Bintulu is likely from the cluster attending the same religious gathering.
“The Health Department is still verifying this,” he said during a press conference at Kemuyang Youth Camp here today.
Uggah added as of yesterday, his committee’s special group had managed to track down a total of 440 travellers flying in to the state four airports between Mar 2 to 5 from Kuala Lumpur.
Meanwhile, Uggah reiterated the need for members of the public to observe the highest personal hygiene standard.
They should frequently wash their hands and observe the social distancing in public gatherings, he said.
He said any gathering of over 50 people should be postponed.

Also present were Deputy Health Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang, Minister of Housing, Housing and Local Government Minister Dato Sri Dr sim Kui Hian and Sarawak Health Department director Dr Chin Zin Hing.
