SIBU: Police have detained a 24-year-old suspect for allegedly assaulting and injuring his 17-year-old relative after a quarrel at a rented houe at Jalan Foochow Friday night.
The suspect had earlier told his relative, who was drinking with his friend outside, to return home.
However, it was believed that a quarrel ensued after he returned home before the angry relative allegedly hit and choke the suspect 6-year-old son.
This angered the suspect who allegedly grabbed a parang and stabbed the relative in the stomach and chest.
After the incident, the suspect ran away.
Family members then called in the ambulance to send the victim and the suspect’s son to the hospital for observation.
The suspect later turned up at the hospital to visit his son but was immediately put under arrest.
He was yesterday remanded for four days.
