KAPIT: Construction is to commence soon on a new road connecting Sungai Baleh Bridge to Rumah Belaja, Nanga Benin in Pelagus.
The 8.4km stretch is scheduled to reach completion in March 2022.
The project cost amounts to RM50 million.
Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi, who is Kapit MP, joined a ‘miring’ (blessing-seeking) ceremony for the project recently.
With him was Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang.
In his speech for the function, Nanta advised the contractor to fully cooperate with the elected representatives, government agencies, and also the local community, as well as to adhere strictly to the scope of works and specifications.
Meanwhile in his remarks, Nyabong called upon the landowners affected by the project, to fully cooperate with the contractor in ensuring uninterrupted works.
