SIBU: Sarawak Bumiputera Teachers Union (KGBS) hopes that the Education Ministry under the leadership of senator Dr Mohd Radzi Mohd Jidin will be more focussed and realistic in ensuring education policies are implemented more efficiently.

In saying this, KGBS president Ahmad Malie also hopes that Mohd Radzi will always maintain strong rapport with the teaching fraternity, in particular, teachers.

“This is to ensure that all education policies can be interpreted effectively towards nation building,” he said in a statement yesterday.

As for Sarawak, Ahmad hopes that the minister will inject new education transformation spirit especially in the aspect of physical and education facilities in the state.

“As we are aware, Sarawak is still facing the issue of dilapidated school buildings which require redevelopment in addition to being equipped with facilities urgently,” he pointed out.

With a new Education Minister, KGBS has high hopes that these issues would be tackled seriously because a big portion of the teaching fraternity in Sarawak is still waiting for education facilities that are conducive for teaching and learning to become reality, added Ahmad.

He congratulated Mohd Radzi on his appointment as the new Education Minister in Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s cabinet.
