Maybank Sibu Central branch closed for two days, to reopen on Wednesday

SIBU: Maybank has announced the temporary closure of its Sibu Central branch for two days starting today to enable a thorough deep-cleaning and sanitisation process to be conducted.

In a statement today, Maybank said this was conducted as one of the branch employees was exposed to an external person who was tested positive for the Covid-19.

This process is being undertaken as part of the bank’s stringent precautionary measures to protect the health and wellbeing of its customers and employees at all times, it added.

The branch will reopen for business on March 18.

In the meantime, customers of Maybank Sibu Central branch may perform their banking transactions via Maybank’s online and mobile banking channels or at any other Maybank branch.

Maybank Head of Community Financial Services Malaysia Datuk Hamirullah Boorhan said safety of its employees and customers are their utmost priority.

“This precautionary measure we are taking is to ensure that any possible health risk is mitigated.

“We are working closely with the relevant health authorities to ensure that all health and safety protocols in this case are adhered to pending the test results of this employee,” he said.

He also said that employees of the branch are currently on home leave while awaiting the completion of the sanitisation process and all health and safety protocols.”
