Thirty suspected Covid-19 patients were told to stay at a unit in the People’s Housing Project in Batu Putih, Mile 7 for 14 days.

SANDAKAN: Thirty people suspected of having Covid-19 were yesterday placed in the People’s Housing Project (PPR) at Batu Putih, Mile 7 here for self-quarantine.

Assistant Local Government and Housing Minister cum Karamunting assemblyman George Hiew Vun Zin said each of the suspected patients would temporarily live in one unit.

“The people in this area do not need to worry as these people are only suspected of having Covid-19.

“The 30 people are required to self-quarantine for 14 days, thus we make use of the PPR Batu Putih which has been completed. They are not allowed to leave the unit without strong reason, and health personnel would check on their health daily,” he explained.

Application forms for PPR Batu Putih’s units were distributed a few weeks ago, and the housing has yet to have any tenant.

“I would like to remind all the people of Sandakan to practise social distancing and keep themselves clean,” he added.

Hiew said that it is best for those who have just travelled back to Sandakan from other places to self-quarantine for 14 days, and go to the hospital once any symptoms of Covid-19 start to appear.
