MIRI: Sarawak DAP secretary Senator Alan Ling has confirmed that he has been tested negative for Covid-19 after two party colleagues contracted the virus.

“I am safe, my test result showed that I am ‘negative’ for Covid-19,” he said in his Facebook page together with a picture of him showing his test result.

DAP’s Sarikei MP Andrew Wong and Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii had earlier tested positive for the virus and are now undergoing treatment.

Yii had apparently contracted the disease after coming into contact with Wong earlier this month.

Several other DAP leaders, including state chairman Chong Chieng Jen, have also undergone tests after coming into contact with Wong and so far, no others have confirmed that they have been infected.

Ling had taken the initiative to go for a comprehensive test at a private hospital at his own cost after learning that his colleagues had the virus.

“I ask everyone be responsible, exercise humility and (be) considerate, with God’s mercy we shall prevail, please stay ever united in the face of Covid-19, “ he also said in his Facebook page.

He thanked all those who had shown concern to him and prayed for everyone, especially those infected for speedy recovery.

“Stay healthy, observe the movement restriction order, “ he advised.
