MIRI: Sarawakians, particularly those in rural areas, can expect more development now that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is in the new federal cabinet with Perikatan Nasional (PN).

Sibuti member of parliament Lukanisman Awang Sauni said GPS would ensure the new federal government administration continues to bring further progress and equal development for Sarawak.

“During the last federal government administration under Pakatan Harapan (PH), there was not much in terms of financial assistance as the state government had to fork out its own budget to address the people’s various welfare interests.

“Now we are able to do more for the people under the new federal government administration formula of PN Plus GPS government. Therefore, there is no problem for GPS to seek more financial assistance and even voice out the people’s problems and interests for the federal government’s attention,” he told villagers in Kampung Hulu Sungai Tangit, Niah recently.

Lukanisman urged rural folk to continue working with GPS as the state government wants to ensure all rural areas in Sarawak are equipped with basic infrastructure.

He said the state government would continue to provide the best service to the people through the implementation of various welfare programmes.

Lukanisman approved a minor rural project (MRP) grant of RM5,000 for the village’s women’s bureau; RM3,000 for Kampung Hulu Sungai Tangit’s village development and security committee, as well as to provide chairs and canopy for village activities.

He also approved RM20,000 to lay gravel along the village’s access road on a gotong-royong basis.
