DBKU puts the brakes on construction sites in line with MCO

KUCHING: Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) is stopping work at all construction sites starting yesterday (Mar 18) to Mar 31 in compliance with the movement control order (MCO).

However, permission is given to contractors to complete leftover works only if it will bring harm to the public if left uncompleted.

Emergency maintenance works can be carried out to ensure public safety, and traffic control and safety aspect as to not pose a threat to the public, and critical facility maintenance and scheduled maintenance will still be carried out.

Cty maintenance and cleanliness involving the trimming of trees, grass, cleaning of drains and roads and others will be stopped except for critical situation.

Aside from that, DBKU has also temporarily closed trading centres under its jurisdiction from yesterday to Mar 31 due to the MCO.

The affected are Anekarasa/Sg Maong/Lorong Cathay/Open Air Market/Tower Market/Semarak/Koperkasa/Kuching Waterfront hawker centres, Satok Flyover/OCBC/bus stop cobbler kiosks; Medan Niaga Boyan, night markets, entertainment outlets and other non essential business premises.

Premises selling food are allowed to operate for take-aways, delivery and drive-throughs only.
