KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) is waiving the parking fee for all areas under its jurisdiction during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period until March 31.

Its Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, who announced this in a notice today, said no parking fee will be imposed until end of this month.

On top of that, all motorists who have not paid their overparking fees for notices issued between March 16 and 18 will be given a grace period until April 3 to make the payment.

“For information, no parking fee is imposed until March 31, 2020. All motorists who have not paid their overparking fees for notices issued between March 16 and 18, 2020 are given extension to pay until April 3, 2020,” said Wee in the notice.

In a separate notice, the mayor said all shops selling food and beverages, coffee shops and food courts must close at 8pm daily during the MCO period.

He stressed that dine-in is strictly prohibited even though food premises, listed under essential services, are currently allowed to operate under the MCO.

“In line with the declaration of the MCO from March 18 to 31, all shops selling food and beverages, kopitiam (coffee shops) and food courts are instructed to close at 8pm every day until further notice. Dine is strictly prohibited,” read the notice undersigned by Wee.

Under the MCO to curb the spread of Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19), eating outlets are allowed to operate but only for takeaway services, and not dining in.
