MIRI: Miri City Mayor Adam Yii is pleased with the level of compliance in the city this morning as the second day of the Movement Control Order (MCO) kicked in to stop the spread of Covid-19.
He said in a statement that the council during its enforcement activities from 7am had found that the public as well as tenants are complying with MCO.
The team led by Yii himself first started with the Open Air Market, the Pelita Commercial Centre and then to Krokop Lorong 5 and Lorong 10 Markets.
“I am quite happy to report basically they are complying with the requirements and there are no dine-in customers for breakfast and I am happy to report that people are taking notice and complying with the requirements.
“My general advice to the public if you don’t have any specific or urgent or important things to do, just stay at home, watch TV and take this opportunity to spend more time with the family and to relax or recuperate from your normal hectic routine. Have more rest and spend quality time with the family,” said Yii in a statement this morning.

He added that as the prime minister has stressed the 14 days is to control the spread of the first wave of the disease and if necessary then the second 14 days has to be enforced.
“This first wave is already causing a lot of difficulties to a lot of people but this is inevitable. So I urged the public to cooperate so that this Movement Control Order, MCO is a success and again the simple rule is if nothing urgent or important just stay indoor and be with the family and stay and keep safe,” he stressed.
