KUCHING: Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii has announced on his Facebook page that his wife has tested negative for Covid-19 today.

This, he added, was confirmed by the Health Department after conducting the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test on her.

“On top of that, my father has also tested negative after they went for the test, after I received the news that I tested positive on March 16,” he said.

He then reassured netizens that his family members will continue to observe the 14-day self-isolation as a measure to prevent the spread of the virus and take all the necessary precautions during the movement control order (MCO) period.

Dr Yii, currently under quarantine at Sarawak General Hospital, also said the doctors plan to conduct another test on him soon.

He commended the healthcare professionals at the hospital as they had been professional and helpful since he was admitted there.

“The doctors are planning to do another test for me soon, and once the results of that test is out, they will then make the decision on the next plan of action,” he said.

He encouraged the public to remain calm and continue to abide by the movement control order regulations as well as take all the necessary precautions to curb the spread of the virus.

He also advised them to stay at home, to stay hydrated, monitor for symptoms and continue to boost their immune system.

Dr Yii has been posting regularly on his Facebook page with daily updates about his condition and his routine while isolated at the hospital with the hashtags #COVID19 and #LifeInIsolation ever since he tested positive for the virus.

According to him, he has yet to exhibit any symptoms typical to those diagnosed with the virus.
