KUCHING: An ever vigilant and compassionate King, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah was seen visiting several roadblocks set up by the police today to ensure that the public adhered to the Movement Control Order (MCO) to deter the spread of Covid-19.

The Istana Negara official Instagram account posted two videos this afternoon, showing the King visiting the roadblocks around Kuala Lumpur in person, waving vehicles by, encouraging policemen on duty there and thanking them for their service.

In an earlier video, the King was seen driving himself and his entourage in a Land Rover on one of the city’s highways.

“There are still some vehicles on the roads, and I hope the number can be reduced as soon as possible for the good of the community at large,” he said in the short video.

The MCO is scheduled to last until March 31, and may be extended if the situation doesn’t improve.

In an announcement today, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Ismail Sabri Yaakob stated that the Malaysian Armed Forces would be deployed to assist the police with monitoring the public’s compliance with the MCO.
