KUALA LUMPUR: Another 130 new positive Covid-19 cases were reported as at noon yesterday,  bringing the total number of cases in the country to 1030, says Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said 48 of the 130 new cases were linked to the Sri Petaling mosque’s religious gathering cluster recently.

“To date, there are 26 cases being treated the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and require respiratory aid,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said 12 patients had recovered and allowed to go home, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 87 so far.

Earlier in a Facebook posting, Dr Noor Hisham said a total of 12 staff members of the Ministry of Health (MoH) and three more from the private healthcare sector had been infected with Covid-19.

According to him, all 12 from MoH are now in the ICU, and require respiratory aid.

Meanwhile, he also advised the public to remain active by exercising or carrying out physical activities throughout the duration of the two-week Movement Control Order (MCO).

“Cardio-based activities for those who exercise bikes or the treadmill at home. Besides this, there are bodyweight exercises such as push-ups, squats, planks, burpees and lunges as well as Tabata workouts and light exercises such as yoga and tai chi,” he said.

Dr Noor Hisham also reminded the public to access the ‘Virtual Health Advisory’ and to follow the daily 9am Webinar session via http://www.doctoroncall.com.my/coronavirus.

The public could also call the MoH’s National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), he said, adding that further information on the Covid-19 situation in Malaysia could be obtained via the CPRC Telegram channel. — Bernama
