MIRI: Borneo Medical Centre (BMC) here has diagnosed a patient, who arrived at its facility experiencing shortness of breath, with positive Covid-19 yesterday.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page yesterday, BMC said the patient came to the centre at 11am and was immediately sent to Miri Hospital at 11am after being diagnosed.

“The patient has no direct contact with any one, and our  personnel attend to the patient with fully equipped protective equipment,” said the statement.

Thereafter, BMC thoroughly disinfected its outdoor triage and isolation areas. Emergency service was suspended during the period until 6pm.

“BMC wishes to apologise for the inconvenience caused.”

BMC also pledged to continue maintaining and upholding strict preventive measures and infection control procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of its patients, employees, and the community at large.

On Thursday, BMC announced via its FB page that it would be imposing temporary visitation restriction to ensure the safety of its patients and staff.

No visitors are allowed and only one caregiver per patient is allowed at the ward at any given time.

It has also set up two booths for temperature-screening, which are on the main entrance level, and the underground parking lot level.
