MIRI: Miri City Council (MCC) yesterday distributed health advisory and guidelines on social distancing to all business premises under its jurisdiction that are allowed to operate throughout the Movement Control Order (MCO) duration.

According to MCC, this latest precautionary measure to mitigate the spread of Covid-19 in the state was issued by State Disaster Management Committee in line with the nationwide restricted movement order.

In a press statement, MCC said the health advisory and guidelines were distributed to operators of grocery shops, restaurants, coffee shops, petrol stations, hypermarkets, supermarkets, private clinics, pharmacies and public markets throughout the city.

The health advisory and guidelines stipulate a one-metre distance between shoppers in the shopping area and at the payment counters; sanitising shopping trolleys and baskets and checking body temperature of customers by thermal scanner before they are allowed into the premises.

All these premises have also been reminded to provide hand sanitizers and ensure their customers sanitise their hands while patronising their premises.

The State Disaster Management Committee yesterday also decided to shorten the business operation hours of these premises to 7am until 7pm starting today (March 24).
