MIRI: Borneo Medical Centre (Miri) yesterday announced that the patient who was tested positive at the medical centre on March 20 using the rapid test kit has turned out to be negative after going through a PCR test.

“We would like to clarify that there is no confirmed case of patient diagnosed with Covid-19 at our medical centre. With that said, be rest assured that we have thoroughly disinfected our medical centre and we will continue to maintain and uphold strict preventive measures and infection control procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our patients, employees, and the community,” said a press statement released by the centre yesterday.

Earlier this week, Borneo Medical Centre (Miri) set up a booth for temperature screening at its Level 1 main entrance and had also moved its emergency department (triage) to Level 1 outdoor triage

Any visitors or patients with symptoms of flu, cough, fever, sore throat, diarrhea, vomiting and experiencing difficulty in breathing have to proceed straight to Level 1 outdoor triage to be reviewed by the centre’s medical officer before they can enter the building.

Only patient that has been screened will be allowed to see the specialist doctors at the outpatient clinic.

“We seek your kind cooperation in being honest by informing the screening staff if you have recently travelled to any affected countries or if you have any of the above symptoms,” added the statement

Patient to be admitted will be required to undergo rigorous screening to ensure that there is no risk of Covid-19 before admission.
